Cell-cycle is a continous of cell reproduction and the orderly sequence of events by which the cell duplicates its content and divides into two.

The cell cycle consists of two phases (1) interphase, much longer period of non-apparent division actually a busy time for the proliferation mainly evidenced by DNA replication and centriole replication etc. in a ordered sequence and (2) M phase or period of division of which the mitosis, a mechanical process of chromosome separation is followed by cytokinesis, the process of pinching the cell into two daughter cells.
