inducible system and repressible system
Inducible system: The system in which the synthesis of specific enzyme (s) can be switched on (induced) only in the presence of a specific substrate, is called an inducible system. The substrate is called the inducer and the phenomenon is called ‘induction’.
Repressible system: The system in which the synthesis of specific enzyme (s) can be switched off (repressed) by the high concentration of its own product is called a repressible system. The product is called the co-repressor which in tern unites with the aporepressor (inactive repressor) to form a functional repressor, and the phenomenon is called “repression”.
